De Sprekende Ezels Bronstijd celebrates the change of seasons with lots of love, poetry, and music on the Sundays of the solstices.
We do this in the idyllic café Zennegat 13, at the confluence of the seasons and 3 waterways, in the middle of a nature reserve that is the largest Neolithic site on Flemish waterways.
This edition of the Sprekende Ezels is named after the shards and finds from the Bronze Age that lie nearby, and refers to time, water, the seasons, and nature.
In good weather, we celebrate outdoors!
De Sprekende Ezels is the free, accessible stage for poetry, comedy, and music in Antwerp, Brussels, Deinze, Ghent, and Mechelen that combines beginners and experienced artists.
A few km away, in Mechelen, the '3D' edition is running: every 3rd Thursday of the month (except June-August) you are welcome in culture café Kuub with the most attentive, sweetest, most beautiful audience north of the south for poetry, music, and comedy.
De Sprekende Ezels has been a collection of reasonably independent, accessible stages spread along Flemish roads for 20+ years for beginning word artists and try-outs of all seasoned pros. We serve you poetry, prose, music, and comedy - in the absence of hypnotists, fire-breathers, and snake wrestlers.
Anyone who shows any degree of human contours may take the stage. It is a place where you can come to gain your first experience, but just as well come to try out new work. De Sprekende Ezels is NOT a competition. There is therefore nothing to win. Except perhaps experience, an extra bit of self-knowledge, applause from peers, and far too few drink vouchers for the nerves. The only thing you need to participate is desire. Anyone who registers at sprekendeezels.be is guaranteed to be on stage one of the next times.
