An evening full of West African magic with Moussa Dembelé on Kora and Lassana Diabaté on Balafon.
Moussa Dembelé was previously a guest at de Spatie. He is a charismatic multi-instrumentalist from Gentse Yelemani Trio. A griot by origin, he is a virtuoso on the balafon, kora, djembe, and more. His sounds breathe the soul of Bob-Dioulasso while simultaneously reaching toward jazz, rock, psychedelia, and improvisation.
Lassana Diabaté is an internationally renowned balafon grandmaster (22-tone xylophone), composer, maker, and culture bearer from a well-known griot family in Guinea. Known for collaborations with numerous international artists and genres including jazz, blues, Latin, and multiple Grammy-nominated albums.
It will be a unique summer evening at de Spatie with traditional sounds, virtuosity, and connection.
