The theater season is just around the corner. After a summer of silence and anticipation, the stage may come to life again, and the desire to listen, watch, and experience together grows.
We are therefore particularly happy that Cabana Belgicana are the first to step onto our stage again. With their warm interplay and narrative music, they immediately set the tone for a new season full of encounters, wonder, and beautiful moments. Not Dark Yet starts from the song of the same name by Bob Dylan and takes you into music and stories about endings and what can arise after that. Cabana Belgicana is a close-knit group of friends around Johan Heldenbergh and Roland Van Campenhout, surrounded by top musicians who find each other in sound, playing pleasure, and connection.
Together they create an intimate and layered performance in which music and story flow into each other. They search for meaning in farewell and transience, but always with a light and warm look. Because where something ends, space also arises for something new. Light gets meaning through dark, love through farewell, life through finiteness. Not Dark Yet is an ode to the moments: to what comes and disappears again, to the being together that is always unique, and to the mild laughing at our attempts to understand the finite.
Farewell is heavy Ja Maar… Nothing remains. Nothing… Everything ends.
Fortunately… Eternity is a torture.
Would you want to wait for a tram forever?
Could you stare into the beautiful eyes of a new lover forever?
Eternity is infinity on the axis of time.
And… Infinity does not exist. On any axis.
The word “peace” would not exist if there had never been “war”.
The word “light” would not exist if it had never been “dark”.
What would “love” mean without “farewell”?
What would “life” be without “death”. Real death.
Life would have no value at all.
We can better embrace the “moments”.
And the dying of moments. Because the bad moments also die.
Age is nothing more than a slow compulsion to accept the end.
For one, that acceptance comes faster than for the other.
And then it is “laughing”…
Because how pleasant it is not to see everyone getting so busy.
All those strange, busy, people who daily fight a losing battle against the chaos, the absurdity, and the end of things.
