The company Gandini Juggling – British, certainly, but definitely without borders – brings together a cosmopolitan cast on stage. Since the 1990s, it has been dynamiting codes and establishing itself as one of the most inventive engines of contemporary juggling. Avec Heka, it propels an unclassifiable show, at the junction of magic, juggling, and contemporary dance.
After having flirted with the universes of Pina Bausch and Merce Cunningham, its virtuoso performers let go of the reins: in Heka everything wavers, skids, bounces. La Compagnie has accumulated more than 600 performances in 50 countries to its credit, and always this taste for vertigo: capricious objects, cascading gestures, mischievous illusions run wild in a fascinating ballet under high tension where the fake becomes enchantment.
