Jazz concert: The Very Big Band

Since 1994, The Very Bigband has grown into a professional ensemble that regularly collaborates with prominent names from the jazz world. Dirigent Carlo Mertens is known for energetic and transparent leadership, which gives the ensemble a fresh impulse. Under his leadership, the band celebrated its thirtieth anniversary in 2024 with a sold-out anniversary concert in Herentals, where pianist Jef Neve was the central guest soloist. With performances in cultural centers, open-air festivals, and jazz stages throughout Flanders, The Very Bigband remains a fixture within Belgian jazz life.
