Early bird price 20 euros In De Schaduw van Toon Hermans is a heartwarming Flemish homage to the greatest Dutch cabaret artist, folk poet, and ambassador of zest for life. Herman Van Hove looks back on his years as the last manager and confidant. He takes you behind the scenes to the kitchen table, where Toon, perfectionist, hypochondriac, and eternal dreamer, also at an advanced age, bubbled with ambition, humor, and what he himself called blissful melancholy. Naast Herman stands Lissa Meyvis, an angelic appearance with a crystal-clear voice. She breathes new life into the most beautiful songs of Toon. She sings the songs that he himself counted among his very dearest, with the same disarming innocence, compassion, and tenderness that characterized him so much. Lissa and Herman already played the performance 115 times in Flanders and the Netherlands, stood in a moved and wildly enthusiastic Amsterdams Theater Carré, and were buried under praise from the public and press. Paul van Vliet listened breathlessly, Bart Peeters felt Toon smiling approvingly, Guido Lauwaert called it a bath in the perfume of tenderness and love, and even Princess Beatrix asked afterward who the girl in the red dress was who sang so beautifully. The performance is an ode that touches, warms, and brings a great artist back to life. Also with orchestra Ton sur Toon: Pol Vanfleteren (piano, accordion, trumpet, synthesizer), Janos Bruneel (double bass), Tom Willems (guitars), Peter Ploegaerts (drums and percussion)
