‘Broer’ follows a suffocating love-hate relationship within a blood bond, which unfolds in a closed universe, detached from the outside world. What begins as a game between two, grows into its own logic, an intimate reality in which fantasy and control, dependence and resistance constantly tilt into each other. Directed by Elien Hanselaer and with scenography by Geert Vandewalle, the audience watches and listens along to the internal voices that guide, distort and sometimes disrupt their actions.
‘Broer’ is a theater performance by Nodus that premieres in CC Zoetegem, created in the context of the supra-local project Korte Keten. Together with Stefaan Degand, Elien Hanselaer brings stories and people from the Vlaamse Ardennen to the stage. For this performance, Nodus listens for a year to voices that rarely find an audience. The company reflects with them on what it means to be part of a community and what happens when someone falls outside of it.
