Noulet/Maris

De Franse saxophonist Ornella Noulet and Belgian accordionist Stan Mari s meet at the intersection of free jazz, free improvisation, and sound research. Both are active voices within the Brussels improvisation scene and bring a rich musical background: from modal jazz and spiritual jazz to contemporary experimental music. Noulet made an impression with her solo album Promise of Faithfulness and collaborations within OLA TUNJI, among others, while Maris is known for projects such as Kreis, Ocean Eddie, and Kin Gajo. In their duo, they let go of compositions and fixed structures in favor of an intense musical dialogue that arises entirely in the moment. With sax and accordion, they create a surprising sound palette: sometimes fragile and meditative, then raw, energetic, and unpredictable.
