There is change in the air, and no one knows it, except me. Constance Doenkerbos loves her sister Meerkat and cousin Sjarel. Oom Jul loves writing very much and does not love Sjarel. En Meerkat does not love her cousin at all. Oh no, she loves dangerous mushrooms, crazy kings, and magic spells. The Doenkerbos family lives secluded on an estate on the edge of the village. They used to be seven, but four family members were mysteriously poisoned. Since then, the villagers treat them with suspicion and hostility; only Meerkat still dares to leave the estate. When Wanneer Sjarel starts acting strange, the puppets really start dancing... Welcome to CASTL. We look forward to the return of Stef Lernous to hetpaleis, where he made Bangerik and Groezel with Abattoir Fermé in recent years. Stef focuses on people who don't find their place among others so easily and that creates a dark tension. He makes the audience shudder, only to then touch their heart; his path to love leads along a dark path. CASTL is based on the last book by Shirley Jackson, the American author of blood-curdling stories. The book was filmed and is now being performed for the first time for the Flemish theater audience with a top cast: Janne Desmet, Lotte Diependaele, Bart Hollanders, Manou Kersting and Maja Westerveld.
