People come in. People leave again. But what is still real? Grandpa no longer knows where he is, when he is, and why he is there. Did the lamp just wave? And did the carpet sneeze? Oh dear, poor grandpa. 'aai' is about a grandfather who is suddenly alone and seeks comfort in the objects around him. Femke Stallaert was inspired by the world of her grandfather with dementia during his final years. She created a wordless performance in which everyday objects come to life and grandpa meets friends, whether imagined or not.
