A biologist has made a strange discovery. He shares his research into aliens, biology and unexplained phenomena in front of a small audience. In the lecture performance Symbiosis, scientific facts and personal obsessions become intertwined. Stories of UFO sightings, forbidden ideas and strange orchids unexpectedly start to resonate with one another. The biologist follows these correlations, not entirely sure whether he is uncovering a pattern or creating one himself. But anyone who deviates from the norm risks isolation, paranoia, and worse. Symbiosis premieres at Theater Aan Zee and is the first part of a trilogy inspired by Jeff VanderMeer’s cult novel Annihilation — a universe where science fiction, horror and ecology converge.
