DONAX - COLORIET - CLASSICAL CONCERT IN THE SPIRIT OF HERMAN TEIRLINCK

In COLORIET, Donax (oboist Bram Nolf, bassoonist Luc Loubry, and pianist Hans Ryckelynck) brings the most sparkling and virtuoso music ever written for the special combination of oboe, bassoon, and piano. During this concert, they also talk extensively about their instruments (e.g., about the special French bassoon of Luc Loubry), about the music you hear (by Henri Brod, Clémence de Grandval, Francis Poulenc, and Jean Françaix), and about their lives as musicians (the 3 gentlemen have a combined career of more than 100 years). The CD they made around this concert program (‘A Tale of Reeds’) went all over the world and was received with extremely glowing reviews in the press! The planned concert in March 2026 unfortunately had to be canceled; we are happy to include this again in our new season! Fagottist Luc Loubry studied at the conservatories of Antwerp and Paris. He is a laureate of the international competitions of Prague, Colmar, and Geneva. For almost four decades, he was the solo bassoonist of the Nationaal Orkest van België. As a bassoon teacher, he was associated with the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel, where he also coordinated the chamber music department. Luc Loubry made more than 80 CD recordings with almost the entire bassoon repertoire and traveled the whole world as a concert musician. Hoboïst Bram Nolf received his training at the conservatories of Ghent, Rotterdam, and Paris. He has been associated with the Nationaal Orkest van België for 20 years, where he invariably takes care of the cor anglais solos. Bram Nolf is a teacher at l’Ecole Supérieure des Arts in Mons and at the Lemmens Institute in Leuven. He is involved in a number of crossover projects with, among others, Dirk Draulans, Kristien Hemmerechts, Maaike Cafmeyer, and Dirk De Wachter. Hans Ryckelynck is one of the most celebrated pianists in our country. He graduated summa cum laude from the Muziekkapel Koningin Elisabeth and not much later became a teacher at both the Koninklijk Conservatorium van Brussel and l’Ecole Supérieure des Arts in Mons. In his discography, he focuses mainly on the oeuvre of Belgian composers and is recognized as one of the specialists in the field.
