Come pick, taste and enjoy!
Between the Chartreuzinnen forest and the Beisbroek domain lie two unique standard orchards. About 170 old fruit trees grow here, good for 75 apple varieties and 32 pear varieties. Lots of choice, lots of taste and above all: lots of picking fun.
On Sunday, September 20, we open the gates. Go out with family or friends and pick your own fruit. Each family may take up to 5 kg (depending on the harvest, every year is different!). We provide picking sticks (“long arms”) so that you can reach everything.
Help take care of the trees: no climbing, no shaking, no ladders.
New this year: Scan the QR codes in the Beisbroek orchard (in collaboration with POMKO) and discover which apple or pear you are picking. For children, there is a mighty quest, picking thus also becomes searching!
After picking, you don't have to go home immediately, but you can linger on the castle square with a snack and a drink. This year we make it extra cozy, because Natuurcentrum Beisbroek celebrates 50 years of nature education. Inside, too, there is a whole world to discover. Ons Natuurcentrum has a new expo after more than 30 years and on the first floor, there is an exhibition about 50 years of nature education.
Come on foot or by bike (up to the orchard)
Parking: Doornstraat 358–386, follow the signage
Also in the orchards of the Gulden Kamer (September 23) and Hof de Jonghe (September 25), there are picking moments, but exclusively for local residents. They receive a personal invitation. Per family, a maximum of 5 kg of apples may be picked there.
