Nausca Film Concert: The Story of Lung-Ta

Let yourself be carried away into a world of resonating strings, sepia-tinted images, and Tibetan symbolism during the film concert The Story of Lung-Ta. Nausca, a new project by Ansatz der Maschine, brings an audiovisual performance in which four live musicians tell the story of Lung-Ta based on film images, animation, graphic elements, and surround sound. Met Nausca strikes Mathijs Bertel a completely new direction: one where music, image, and story flow together into a total experience. The Story of Lung-ta follows a girl who washes up in a mysterious world and tries to understand how everything is connected there. Along the way, she is assisted by “windhorses”, symbolic horses that refer to Tibetan prayer flags and the power of nature. What begins as a fairy-tale discovery tour grows into a reflection on biodiversity, our relationship with nature, and how fragile that balance actually is. The images are brought to life by four musicians who play a wide arsenal of instruments, from harp and strings to electronics and instruments from various musical traditions such as the guzheng (Chinese string instrument), nyckelharpa (Swedish string instrument), and yayli tanbur (Turkish lute). Music, film images, animation, and graphic elements flow together into a total experience that balances between concert, film, installation, and a journey to another world. Watch the trailer here.
