Founded in 1993 by students of the Brussels Conservatory, Oxalys grew over the years into a chamber music ensemble with a unique profile and a strong international reputation. With its sophisticated repertoire and refined performances, Oxalys always enjoys a warm welcome on national and international stages. In our own country, radio station Klara awarded them the ‘Klara Muziekprijs for best Solist of Ensemble’ in 2016.\n\nLet yourself be carried away in a program that shows the richness of brass and piano in all its facets.\n\nWe open with Beethoven with his irresistible ‘Quintet for piano and winds’, a work that bursts with charm, virtuosity, and playful interaction. Next, an absolute highlight from the woodwind quintet literature: ‘Summer Music’ by Samuel Barber, a subtle, shimmering, and atmospheric jewel. And as a closing piece, the swirling ‘Sextuor’ by Francis Poulenc: an ode to the sparkling 20s of the last century. Melancholy and French elegance at its best.\n\nConcrete program:\n\nLudwig van Beethoven (1770-1827) - Quintet in E-flat (1796) Op.16\nfor piano, oboe, clarinet, bassoon & horn\n\nSamuel Barber (1910-1981) – Summer Music (1956) Op.31\nfor flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon & horn\n\nFrancis Poulenc (1899-1963) - Sextuor (1932)\nfor piano, flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon & horn\n\nLine-up: Wouter Valvekens (piano), Toon Fret (flute), Nathalie Lefèvre (clarinet), Piet Van Bockstal (oboe), Anthony Devriendt (horn) and Gordon Fantini (bassoon / tbc)\n\nincl. drink afterwards
