Sometimes heritage is simply hidden behind a wall, waiting to be rediscovered. That was the case with recent demolition works in the Bakkerstraat in Blankenberge. Behind the facade, exceptional tile tableaux unexpectedly emerged from the company ‘Usines de la Dyle’ from Wijgmaal near Leuven, a renowned manufacturer of art and decorative tiles from the beginning of the twentieth century.
Why were these images chosen? And how did these special tiles eventually end up in the Bakkerstraat? Our guide will take you into this fascinating story!
