Little Farnoosh lives in a house in a big city. Her room overlooks a colossal mountain that stands like a guard outside her window. Farnoosh often sits in front of her window and sees steel birds flying through the air. Like dark clouds, they cast shadows over her familiar environment. When the clouds become too threatening, she flees with her family. They only return when the storm turns into a soft breeze. ‘Echoes of the Mountains’ tells the timeless story of a girl who, amidst unrest in Iran, struggles with questions about identity and belonging. The performance is a visual symphony in which text, live music, and illustrations merge.
