About domain warden Dirk
Dirk Noens has been a domain warden in Vrijbroekpark since 2008. He is also a guide there and shares his passion for nature and biodiversity. He followed training courses to become a nature guide and forest guide. He is even a certified Hoge Venen guide.
In his spare time, he can be found outside with a map and compass. Looking for peace and quiet in nature. He has a deep admiration for trees, both above and below the ground.
For Voor Dirk, biodiversity is essential. He feels the responsibility to share his knowledge and protect it.
What can you expect during the sensory walk?
Dirk takes you into Vrijbroekpark. Together with him, you do exercises in nature. You discover how to release tension and focus on color and sound. And you go in search of the scents of the month.
Exercises with your senses
Dirk guides you through some simple exercises. These help you experience nature more intensely and feel your body and bring it to rest. You pause to consider sounds, scents, textures, and colors in the park.
Guided but non-binding
Dirk invites you to do the exercises, but nothing is mandatory. You participate in the walk in your own way and within your own limits.
Nature up close
You discover how we, with our bodies, are part of an ecosystem. Animals, plants, and microorganisms work together in their environment (earth, air, and water) and form a whole.
Moments of silence
Silence is an important part of the walk. It helps to let go of stimuli and really be present in the moment. After the walk, you can chat over herbal tea.
Slow pace, no performance pressure
There is no final goal or distance. It is about the experience along the way.
Do you want to experience the influence of nature on your body yourself? Vergezel Dirk on the sensory walk. And measure your tension level after the trip: the difference from before will surprise you. And afterwards, you can get started on your own with Dirk's exercises on our Forest Bathing Path.
