Art on the Meuse - Future Fossil - Koen Vanmechelen

Discover the future artwork Future Fossil, the new monumental artwork by internationally renowned artist Koen Vanmechelen during a guided walk along the Meuse. This impressive work tells the story of man, river, and nature. From old sandbags, once a protection against the water, grows a charred willow, marked by the beaver and crowned with an egg: a powerful symbol of hope and new life. The work was created in close collaboration with the residents of Dilsen-Stokkem in the middle of the RivierPark Maasvallei, within walking distance of Visitor Center De Wissen. Walk along the winter dike and experience art and nature in a unique, meaningful setting.
