Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and Steven Fillet. Belle-Île

Sun, 6 Sept 2026 · 10:00
MAC's - Musée des Arts Contemporains de la Communauté française de Belgique, Hornu
Belle-Île was born in 2024 from the collaboration between choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and painter Steven Fillet, two artists maintaining a very strong link with nature. They spent the autumn on Belle-Île-en-Mer, where they worked outdoors on a huge canvas of five by twenty meters, balanced on a cliff above the stormy sea. Wind and storm, motifs visible in previous performances such as Forêt (2022), Exit Above (2023), and Il Cimento (2024), literally blow through the work. Light, water, and air infiltrate a network of lines that are both abstract and subtly figurative, like a play of shadows that evoke the first cave paintings. For this exhibition, Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker creates a new solo titled Amnesia inspired by Beethoven's final piano sonata (Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor, opus 111), a work that, just like music, oscillates on the edge of disappearance.
