Het Kerstoratorium van Sigurður Sævarsson is a large-scale contemporary work that brings the Christmas story to the listener in a modern and poignant way. This work for choir, instrumental ensemble and soloists forms a refreshing musical translation of the classical oratorio form. This ambitious work dates from 2012 and has only been performed twice worldwide before.
Kamerkoor Camerata Aetas Nova and instrumental ensemble Ataneres share a distinct interest in contemporary repertoire that builds on a rich musical history. Both ensembles consistently choose thoughtfully conceived works and do not shy away from artistic risk. In this joint performance of the Christmas Oratorio, those starting points come together: a contemporary work that starts from tradition, but at the same time is innovative and asks for attentive listening and collective focus. The result is a concert that moves away from routine and sheds light on the Christmas story from a new angle.
