Esther van der Wel

In 'En ik ben', Esther van der Wel investigates the relationship between the Netherlands' most famous Enlightened writers, Betje Wolff and Aagje Deken. Two good friends who create the illusion that they were more than that. But how can you prove that? And why is that so important? Can we learn something from them, or are they so dusty that we better leave them alone? En ik ben is about the importance of telling stories, love from the past and present, salmon, sheep, and about what happened on an 18th-century Roze Huis afternoon. Esther van der Wel (they/them) graduated in 2022 from cabaret at the Conservatorium Antwerpen, but has since found a firm footing on Dutch soil again. With their graduation performance 'Hoogtij(d)', they have played in both Dutch and Belgian theaters.
