ALBAN is the solo project of musician Alban Sarens (Stef Kamil Carlens, Ellen Schoenaerts, Equal Idiots, Slow Pilot, Birthe, .. take your pick …). His debut album ‘To Break Your Heart’ was released on February 12, 2026, on the Dutch label Télès Music and is the result of an introspective process that took shape in eleven songs, fueled by grief and personal transformation. During three intense years, Alban reached for his saxophone to express what words could not capture.
The album is a musical reflection on loss and the search for what love truly means. The saxophone became his voice: an instrument that converts emotions into melodies that carry both heaviness and lightness. Music born from absence, but reaching for a warm embrace that whispers: ‘It’s okay, I’m here.’
‘To Break Your Heart’ is not about despair, but about what can arise from it. It is a soundscape in which grief deepens into growth, and in which music points the way.
“There’s only the path we took.”
“A soundscape in which grief deepened into growth and where music pointed the way. Music born from absence, but reaching for a warm embrace. A great record where grief, love, and resilience come together.” (Klara) “Het Vlaamse, folky answer to Albasten dePlume” Jasper van Loy (Humo) “Air after the blow. To Break Your Heart is a striking example of highly individual expression that can also pry open other people's hearts.” Focus Knack
