Samen Lezen in the Emile Van Dorenmuseum

Listening to a story together in the museum and talking about it with each other. The setup of Shared Reading is simple. We sit cozily around the table. Eddy reads aloud. Do you recognize yourself in the story? Does it touch you? You don't have to be a big reader for these meetings. Everyone can participate. We read for pleasure. And because beautiful stories can sometimes do you good! This time we are reading in the middle of the museum! Where the expo 'Day & Night' is running. Day & Night is an expo about the magical moment when light and darkness touch each other. Landschapschilder Emile Van Doren (1865–1949) knew better than anyone how to capture those fleeting transitional moments in his work: the first glow of dawn, the soft fading of the evening light. These are moments of silence and tension, in which the world seems to tilt for a moment and a new time announces itself. The passing of light and time continues to fascinate artists. Day & Night brings work by Van Doren and other artists from the historic station d'artistes Genck into dialogue with contemporary makers. Generations meet in a play of shadow and shimmer, stillness and imagination. With historical work by Emile Van Doren, Marthe Bamps, Théodore Baron, Léon Becker, Oscar Bronckaers, Joseph Coosemans, Jos De Mey, Edmond de Schampheleer, Alexis Ermel, John Gérard, François Halkett, Léon Jamin, Ludovic Janssen, Vic Kerkhofs, Armand Maclot, Willy Minders, Fréderic Mommen, Félicie Ransy-Putzeys, François Roffiaen, Henri Rolin, Henriette Rolin-Lagrange, Edmond Tschaggeny, Mathieu Vanderfeesten, Frans Van Leemputten and Emmanuel Viérin. And with contemporary work by Mounir Eddib (also co-curator), David Baeyens, Joan Bonnemaison, Jos Coenen, Pieter Geenen, Yasmin Gheisari, Mario Maes, Guy Rubicon, Thom Trojanowski, Stefaan Vermeulen, Walter Vermeulen and Peter Weidenbaum.
