After thirty long years, the brothers Franz and Horst see each other again in the residential care center where Horst - against his will - resides. Despite his dementia, the meeting brings many sensitivities from the past back to the surface. Especially when an old acquaintance suddenly appears. Old passions flare up, wounds from the past are exposed again, and the rivalry between the brothers turns out to be deeper than thought. With ‘Zondag de Negenste’, Kat Steppe, known for ‘Taboe’, ‘Goed volk’, and ‘Het Vaticaan - de staat van de kerk’, makes her feature film debut. She lets fiction and documentary elements flow effortlessly into each other in an intense drama with Josse De Pauw and Peter Van den Begin. The film was recorded in Residential Care Center OLV in Antwerp, where residents with Alzheimer’s stood in front of the camera together with professional actors. ''An as restrained as melancholic directorial debut by Kat Steppe. What lingers is a sincere plea for dignity. Because just because you have to walk around in a diaper doesn’t mean you want to be pampered.'' - De Standaard 107 MIN / BELGIUM / 2026 / 12+ DIRECTOR KAT STEPPE CAST JOSSE DE PAUW, PETER VAN DEN BEGIN, FRANK LAMMERS, ISABELLE VAN HECKE, KRISTIEN DE PROOST
