De Kalmthoutse heath has been part of the UNESCO-recognized label Global Geopark Schelde Delta since March 27, 2024. It is one of the largest Geoparks in the world. De Kalmthoutse heath was formed by various geological processes that will be explained during this walk. The 'metamorphoses' over the past 11,000 years will be discussed. Attention will also be given to the various biotopes of the area as we know it today. Cultural-historical matters will also be discussed during this walk. Reservations are necessary: daniel.frickel@skynet.be 5 euros per participant - max number of 25 participants For this walk, it is necessary to wear good walking shoes. Binoculars can also be useful, but are not necessary. · 4 to 5 km – 8000 to 9000 steps – 2.30 hours to 3.00 hours · (no dogs / no wheelchair / kid-friendly / not by train) · Starting point: De Vroente, Putsesteenweg 131, Kalmthout. · Walk: +/- 5 km
