On Friday 13 November, the church of Langemark Meermens, the alter ego of musician, poet, cabaret artist, and writer Bram Verstappen, welcomes you with a compelling performance about the Eerste Wereldoorlog.
With a unique combination of poetry, prose, and music, Meermens takes the audience on a special journey back more than 100 years. Step by step, a story unfolds told from two perspectives: that of a character from the Eerste Wereldoorlog and that of someone from our time. Gradually, it becomes clear that both stories, and the audience, are more connected to each other than it seems at first glance.
The performance balances in a striking way between historical facts, fiction, and hopeful dreams about a better future. A touching and compelling evening that invites you to pause, reflect, and connect.
The performance starts at 20.00h in the church of Langemark and is free of charge.
Afterwards, we cordially invite you to chat a bit more and enjoy a drink, offered by the local government.
