Textiles are not just 'made'. Textile and dye plants have been grown, cherished, harvested, and processed into sturdy, colorful fabrics for centuries. You can make thread from flax and stinging nettle, and give that thread the deepest shades of blue, yellow, or red with elderberries, marigolds, or madder. In our Textile Garden, you will discover colorful and fragrant plants for making and dyeing textiles. These plants are cared for by the green thumbs of our collective of textile gardeners. Twice a month, we come together to let the garden grow and bloom with love. Will you come and lend a hand with the light maintenance of the fiber and dye plants? We sow, weed, and harvest together, and in doing so, learn about the possibilities of plants for textiles. Everyone is welcome, with or without prior knowledge. Regular workshop moments program: sowing, weeding, and harvesting the fiber and dye plants in the Textile Garden together when: from March through October, bi-weekly on Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday evening Small gardening tools are provided Bring your packed lunch to the afternoon sessions: we will sow, weed, and have a picnic together among the plants
