Astronaute returns after a seven-year hiatus with a new album: Heron. Heron is the musical answer to a period of stillness, introspection, and rediscovery. The long winter of contemplation and reflection, in which everything seemed to stand still for a moment, forms the foundation. The winter as sung about on this third album is not just a season; it is a symbol of slowing down, the moment of pause, in which the old is let go and space is created for transition. Like the heron that slowly moves through the cold, frozen air, the band has reoriented itself during this time of stillness. The hibernation was a period in which old patterns were broken and the inner journey to rediscovery began. The thaw came, spring broke through, and the heron spread its wings to fly further. Heron is a reflection of that process: the silence before the storm, the transition from an old state to a new one.
With the addition of bass guitarist Kasper De Sutter and pianist/vocalist Loes Gerits, and a number of special guest musicians, Astronaute has further strengthened the band and broadened its musical horizon.
