a theatrical installation for eye, ear, nose, mouth, skin & heart HYPERSENSES takes a very intriguing and mysterious work of art as its starting point. De Dame and the Unicorn is a six-part series of tapestries created around 1500. Five of them depict our senses - sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch. The last tapestry shows something else. Is it about a sixth sense – also called the ‘sense of the heart’? Or is it a fusion of all the senses? There is no consensus on what the image exactly symbolizes. What is certain: you will be overwhelmed by the richness of this work and invited to experience the world in a joyful and intense way. HYPERSENSES is a musical and sensory installation in which the audience actively participates. In these overstimulated, hectic times, HYPERSENSES wants to help you ground yourself again. Our senses are the gateway to a different, more profound, and conscious experience of reality. You will be taken into a universe where an ASMR voice gives whispering instructions and gives you goosebumps in your head. Live electro-acoustic music weaves polyphonically with late medieval melodies. Sonological effects vibrate like a shamanic ritual. Textile techniques inspire woven, spun, braided food, into an edible scenography. After the successful alchemical laboratory BALSAM (2020) with numerous performance series at home and abroad, Laika and Zefiro Torna are joining forces again. Together with scientists and artists, they explore the tension between past and present, craft and technology.
