Macondo Trio feat. Bram De Looze - Jazz Cats Clubshow

The adventure of Macondo begins when the Beninese drummer Angelo Moustapha de Belgische meets saxophonist Sylvain Debaisieux. During artistic residencies in Belgium and Benin, they develop a shared rhythmic language, in which improvisation and sonic exploration reinforce each other. De Italiaanse bassist Federico Stocchi adds a deep, organic foundation to their musical world and thus completes the cosmopolitan trio. The debut EP ‘Macondo’ (2022, Off Records) is a testament to musical alchemy in which energy, groove, and freedom come together. Macondo Trio mixes modal and improvised jazz with African rhythms and melodies from childhood. The life experience and background of each of the three musicians can be heard in it. They feed each other musically and spiritually and create enchanting jazz that asks to be shared. At this concert, pianist Bram De Looze joins the Macondo Trio. With his adventurous, crystal-clear playing and his international reputation within contemporary jazz, he brings a totally different, but equally intriguing energy to the trio.
