KH ST-MARTINUS & 6 Limburg choirs

After the overwhelming success of the performance of Carmina Burana in 2024 with 200 singers and 100 musicians, the Koninklijke Harmonie Sint-Martinus is joining forces again on the occasion of its 100th anniversary with choirs Cantate Maasmechelen, Incantatio Genk, Kathedraalkoor Hasselt, Manteliusensemble Hasselt, Exsultate Heusden-Zolder, and Amabile Pelt. This time, the masterful Messa di Gloria by Giacomo Puccini is on the program. Tenor Stefan Cifolelli and baritone Werner Van Mechelen are once again taking on the solo parts. The work combines the solemnity of the Italian choral tradition with expressive melodies and motifs, which later reappear in Puccini's operas. Unknown does not mean unloved. Meesterverteller Marc Erkens provides the introduction and guides the audience through the music that will resound. The evening concludes with an impressive arrangement of Beethoven's Ode to Joy , the glorious climax of his ninth and final symphony, and immediately a nice nod to the Beethoven year 2027.
