How does a year contained in music and words feel? 150 years ago, Pjotr Iljitsj Tsjaikovski De Seizoenen composed: an iconic piano cycle structured as a twelve-part musical serial, one piece for every month of the year, each accompanied by a poem. Pianiste Marie François takes this concept to the twenty-first century. She interprets the twelve miniatures of Tchaikovsky. Joke van Leeuwen, Lize Spit, Ester Naomi Perquin, and Max Temmerman bring poetry written especially for this project. What emerges is not a traditional concert, but a hybrid ritual at the crossroads of a musical salon and a poetic universe. On stage, a year unfolds: from first bloom to last shadow, from shimmering summer to silent winter. “We need something like this, something beautiful and inspiring between the rumbling of world news.
