Three years ago, our Crypt was recognized as UNESCO World Heritage. High time, therefore, that we put this special place in the spotlight again during the next edition of Open Monumentendag on September 13. The theme this year ‘In good hands’ places the focus not only on the monument, but also the craftsmanship, the care, and the passion that are needed to preserve these places for the future.
The laden history that the Crypt, the Pax Gate, and the remains of the 1st Iron Tower carry with them were given their own unique place in our operations. It is invariably the starting point of every individual visitor who visits our museum and thus forms an important benchmark in spreading our peace message.
On September 13, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., our curator Peter Verplancke guides everyone who wants through the history of our heritage.
The activity is free, access to the museum is not included.
