Somewhere along a main road stands Bowling Buffalo, a place that looks exactly as it did in 1994 and has been run for years by four young women – the buffalas. They started there as student workers, but in the meantime, they have become part of the permanent furniture. In their seemingly eternal cocoon, they wait for customers, while they bicker about their casual love lives, drink milkshakes, and smoke cigarettes. Until one of them announces her departure. She wants to take a new direction in her life and leave the bowling alley behind. For all those years, the buffalas have lived in a wonderful sense of timelessness, under the fluorescent light of the retro bowling decor and their own unbridled imagination. But now that someone has dragged the concept of ‘finiteness’ into it, all the pins fall in record time. ‘Bowling Buffalo’ is a Wildcard performance by Compagnie Cecilia about nostalgia, thirty-somethings, and dreams that may or may not be dusty. Played by Hanne Timmermans, Lien Thys, Kiana Porte & Annelore Crollet, directed by Daan Borloo. Compagnie Cecilia draws a Wildcard for non-proprietary projects she believes in, and gives the makers all her production assets to realize their performance.
