BLUAI (try-out) Dreamy indie pop, americana influences, and sharp songwriting. The journey of the Antwerp-based BLUAI shows that Belpop is more alive than ever. The first songs were cautiously written down in the bedroom of the then seventeen-year-old Catherine Smet. Seven years later, in 2021, Mo Govaerts and Caitlin Talbut joined her. Ridiculously shortly thereafter came the rapid breakthrough thanks to victories at De Nieuwe Lichting, Humo’s Rock Rally, and Sound Track. The stages at home and abroad were immediately eager, and festivals also embraced BLUAI with spots at Rock Werchter, Pukkelpop, Lowlands, Live at Leeds, Lokerse Feesten, and BTS Hyde Park. Besides the rock-solid tracks, the live reputation has quickly become a hallmark of the band. On their debut album ‘Save It For Later’, the trio sets off on a road trip through the musical landscapes of artists like Big Thief, Pinegrove, Haim, and Alabama Shakes. Or as HUMO wrote: "Pop songs for the prairie: ‘Save It For Later’ by BLUAI is full of americana that embraces you and won't let go." This autumn, the long-awaited follow-up album will be released.
