Sounding Lines-Wading Version (Belgische première) - Stijn Demeulenaere

Sounding Lines explores how we humans have transformed the seabed of the North Sea—no fewer than three times in the last 200 years. First, we fished out all the oyster beds. Then we drilled for oil and gas. Now we are building hundreds of wind turbines and an undersea electricity grid. Geopolitics, climate action, ecological fears and economic hopes converge in this story. Gradually, it becomes clear how connected we are to the sea, and how we have transformed it into a very human place. Stijn recorded the sounds of offshore wind farms and some of the last remaining wild oyster beds. A choir from Ostend sings forgotten sea shanties. At TAZ, all this comes together in an immersive performance. The audience puts on waders and enters the water, listening to a world full of possible pasts and futures. Please note: the audience must put on waders and then enter the water.
