Trees and shrubs in the Castle Park ‘t Hooghe

Site ’t Hooghe in Kortrijk rose in 1834 just outside the city on the hill along the Doorniksesteenweg. Central is a castle in empire style. The original park layout according to the English landscape style presumably dates from around 1840. The park has a total area of 5 ha, of which approximately 1.25 ha is a rose garden, established by the province of West Flanders in 1959. Gids Jos takes you along in his special stories about trees and shrubs. We find those from our own region, but also those from abroad. These exotics are ecologically less valuable, but have great ornamental value. They too deserve our attention.
