We have an appointment in the Meise Botanic Garden. This is one of the largest botanical gardens in the world, about 92 hectares in size, with some 18,000 plant species from all over the world. There are various theme gardens such as a rose garden, medicinal plant garden, and culinary garden. Actually a plant palace, a gigantic greenhouse complex of 1 hectare with different climate zones, from desert to tropical rainforest. Very well known is the Groene Ark, a hyper-modern greenhouse with the most endangered plant species. The botanical garden also specializes in preserving wild plants in a seed bank (cooled in freezers to -20°C). In the middle of the domain lies the castle of Bouchout (from the 12th century), definitely worth a visit for, among other things, the history of botany. We depart at 9:00 AM from the parking lot behind the Cultureel Centrum AchterOlmen. Participation price: € 54 for members, non-members € 59, this excludes lunch. Register before June 20, 2026
