Een brug naar erfgoed
Het Schipdonkkanaal is a cultural-historical landscape in Maldegem and Eeklo. Between both municipalities lies a protected railway bridge, which has been repurposed as… a railway bridge!
After all, it is used by a museum steam train. The bridge was completely restored in 2026. On open Monumenten Dag, guided tours are given, and trains drive over the bridge.
Attention, you can also travel (for a fee!) by train to the bridge, from Maldegem station at 12:30 PM, 2:20 PM, and 3:45 PM; from Eeklo station at 11:10 AM, 1:30 PM, and 3:00 PM
