Teyrrasfolk 2026 is a free music festival with six evenings full of pure dance pleasure. Every evening starts with a dance initiation for anyone who wants to loosen up their legs. Folk dancing might seem difficult, but nothing could be further from the truth. Thanks to the social character (you rarely dance alone), a great evening is guaranteed. The programmed music groups belong to the top of their genre. We start at the Sint-Nicolaasplein in Sint-Niklaas with Roots ! ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Folk balls are full of beautiful instrumental music, but singing is rare. Roots changes that. Met Bal Sjanté they combine dance and song into one infectious whole. Scottish, waltz, bourrée, … can you now dance and sing at the same time: Chanté! A ball with cozy songs that allows the not-so-fanatical dancer to enjoy themselves from the bar: Santé! Double goal, double fun: Sjanté! Roots is a (pop)folk band with roots in the Dendermonde region. Vanuit Ierse and Celtic influences, the group built its own sound, fueled by diverse musical backgrounds such as folk, jazz, and classical. With a rich instrumentation, traditional and original songs, Roots brings energetic folk music that makes it hard to sit still. The band was formed in 2010 and has since released several recordings, including the albums Point Blue (2014) and Rewind (2017). In 2020, Roots collaborated with Eva De Roovere for the performance "Over Muren".
