A ritual celebration of life. With her new performance Heartbeats, the Iranian-Nederlandse Nastaran Razawi Khorasani brings an intimate and poignant story about life and farewell. A performance that touches and unsettles, but also offers space for comfort, imagination, and what makes life valuable. The beating heart of this performance is Dian Sahertian-Boers: young, full of life - and terminally ill. In conversation with theater maker Nastaran Razawi Khorasani, she spoke candidly about mortality, desire, and what makes life worth living. Did death mean the end for her? Or would she live on in another way? Those questions form the basis of Heartbeats: a documentary, physical, and visual performance in which Dian's words, the light, and the music follow their own heartbeat. The space is constantly changing - and represents a world beyond death. We notice upon leaving the hall how this pure Heartbeats knocks unnoticed towards the throat. - in de Volkskrant. Nastaran does not shy away from death. She desecrates it. And precisely because of that, she shows what gives life meaning. Confronting, yes. But also comforting, beautiful, and unforgettable.
