Met de Dorpscinema travels through the city of Beringen in collaboration with The Roxy Theatre to organize free film screenings in mostly idyllic places to highlight Flemish/Belgian film. Registration in advance is mandatory and can be done by phone, by email, by appointment at the counter, or online via www.ccberingen.be. In case of bad weather, we will cancel the film. Café Derby – Lenny Van Wesemael Vrijdag September 4 – 8:15 PM Parochiezaal Korspel (Kroonstraat 49, 3581 Beringen) The film takes place in 1985 and follows Georges, a market vendor who sees opportunities everywhere. When the Pope comes to Belgium, he rents Café Derby next to the mass site to make quick money. His family doubts, but Georges persists. Café Derby is a warm tragicomedy about entrepreneurship, family, and continuing to dream against reality. Young Hearts – Anthony Schatteman Vrijdag September 11 – 8:15 PM Lutgartsite (Stadswal 14, 3580 Beringen) The film follows teenager Elias, who grows up in a warm family. His life changes when he meets neighbor boy Alexander and falls in love for the first time. He struggles with these feelings and the reactions of his environment. Young Hearts is a warm coming-of-age film about identity, acceptance, and growing up, which emphasizes the importance of support and self-acceptance. Radioman – Frank Van Passel Zaterdag September 12 – 8:15 PM Radiostation of BNL (Deurnestraat 3, 3583 Paal) The film takes place in May 1940 in Brusselse Flageygebouw, where actress Elza and soundman Berre meet. Between them grows a love that distracts them from the looming war. In the world of radio, they seek stability. A moving story about love, imagination, and hope in uncertain times.
