With the sledgehammer blow of their debut ‘Hard Drive Error’ (2024), Green Crow Collective nailed themselves to the firmament of the alternative Belgian scene with absurdist Eurodada. People who were there in De Zeepziederij on May 9, 2025, know all about it. The record was warmly received by the press and radio and catapulted the band towards large stages at home and abroad. There was no talk of a feared ‘difficult second album’. As Terwijl Green Crow Collective toured incessantly with ‘Hard Drive Error’, the new songs wrote themselves almost automatically. The result is ‘LOBOTOMIE’: sharper, fatter, and more absurd than ever before. On ‘LOBOTOMIE’, the madness of the day sounds loud and unvarnished. The fiction pales in comparison to the hard, real clusterfuck in which the world seems to be drowning. That chaos is sung about in English, West Flemish, German, French, and Djiberish. With titles like ‘Das Leben = Cactus’, ‘Huern Zèhn’ (with Sarah Vandeursen), ‘Reset the Sex’, ‘Dodgy Rodger’, ‘Educate the Billionaires’ and ‘De la Merde’, one thing is clear: Green Crow Collective is ready for the battle. The infectious, explosive mélange evokes echoes of Mano Negra, T.C. Matic, King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard, Fontaines D.C., and 16 Horsepower, without ever falling into pastiche. ‘LOBOTOMIE’ was recorded in Ghent at Robot Studios, under the watchful eye of Pieterjan Coppejans. Green Crow Collective has built a rock-solid live reputation over the past few years with shows at Festival Dranouter, Ancienne Belgique, De Roma, ESNS, Bospop, Grensrock, Kneistival, Patronaat (NL), and as support for Living Colour and Skunk Anansie. Every live show is an orgasmic explosion that results in an apocalyptic whirlpool, led by a bewitching shaman. Resisting is useless, a pill afterwards helps. From and by: Roeland Vandemoortele (guitar, banjo, vocals) | Andries Boone (violin, mandola, synths, vocals) | Mathias Moors (bass, vocals) | Bert Huysentruyt (drums, vocals)
