Traum is the second production by Roeshoofd, the company centered around Simon De Vos and Lukas Bulteel. For this new creation, they draw inspiration from the cult graphic novel Maus van Art Spiegelman. Simon De Vos wrote a new play for this. Siem, in his early thirties, stands at a crossroads in his life. His career as a theater director is not taking off, his relationship with Lucia is under pressure, and the recognition he craves from his father is not forthcoming. For his new theater production, Siem decides to record interviews with his father in the hope of finding answers to questions about a painful wartime past. What follows is a reconstruction in which he tries to find out who he is today, and above all, who he wants to be. By situating the story in an indeterminate time and place and using animal masks, Traum becomes an absurd allegory about a great war between Foxes and Rabbits, a frame story of events driven by music by Tim Vanhamel. ‘TRAUM’ is a search for the traces that a beastly past leaves on the generations that follow. Theater FroeFroe creates the animal heads. With: Geert Van Rampelberg, Lukas Bulteel, Evelien Bosmans and Lotte Valckenaers
