On the road with Les Âmes Perdues

Op pad met Les Âmes Perdues   Les Âmes Perdues digs. Not with shovel and boot, but with voice, accordion, cello, piano, and recorder. For this creation, the Antwerp music theater trio dives into the history of De Notelaer and the nearby Scheldt. What they unearth begins to sound. Let yourself be carried away on a musical guided tour around the pavilion, in which we walk, stop, and listen together. De Schelde is not background, but driver: trade route, border, story machine. What it carries with it washes up here again in music. The repertoire flows broadly and idiosyncratically: from light to salty, from exuberant to intimate, from Renaissance dances of Tylman Susato to chansons of Kurt Weill and Edith Piaf, songs of Boudewijn De Groot and Willem Vermandere, a touch of Poulenc, a pinch of Boris Vian.
