TELEHIV + EVER PRESENT

“The music of Telehiv reminds me of sweet summer days, the kind of days they rarely experience in Norway, it seems to me.” - Programmator Adia In the Noorse Stranda, the harsh weather causes the small asphalt roads to bulge and crack every year (in Norwegian: telehiv). In that stubborn landscape, drummer Øyvind Skarbø found the inspiration for his sextet of the same name. The music of Telehiv is relaxed and minimalist, but at the same time constantly in motion. The special combination of the traditional Noorse Hardangerviool, a cello, and an exuberant synthesizer gives the band a completely unique, tingling fresh shine. Also with Ever Present, the musical brainchild of Tobias Volckaert (also very active with Abel Ghekiere), the beauty of the unexpected prevails. He translates small scenes into instrumental compositions: a special incidence of light, or an everyday thought that suddenly tilts. His melodies take the time to unfold organically, defying the rat race, and in doing so, shift imperceptibly from mysterious and searching to cheerful and driving.
