Searching for wild orchids in the Fonteintjes

Sat, 6 Jun 2026 · 14:00
Ingang Fonteintjes, Londenstraat Zeebrugge, Bruges
Free
De Fonteintjes are mainly known for their plant richness. Five species of wild orchids, including the southern marsh orchid, the bee orchid, and the marsh helleborine, bloom there. Other gems such as adder's-tongue, mare's tail, and the extremely rare pondweed also thrive there. May and June are the months par excellence to admire the plants. In the reed lands, the Cetti's warbler, the sedge warbler, the reed warbler, and the marsh warbler sing their song in the spring. Occasionally you can also hear the call of the water rail and green frogs completing the choir. In the spring, tens of thousands of birds also migrate to their breeding grounds over De Fonteintjes, which provides a true spectacle. Discover this unique nature reserve with a Natuurpunt guide! Be quick. Only 15 people can join per excursion. Register per person via the "REGISTER" button below. 📌 USEFUL TIPS FOR PARTICIPANTS 👕 Dress in layers.
