Année Septennales... August 15 as an emblematic day A bit of history... In 1656, a severe drought put the harvests of Huy at risk. On August 15, the inhabitants organized a procession and brought down the Virgin of the Sarte with great piety and placed her in the Collegiate Church. As they brought the statue back to her chapel on the heights of the city, the drought ended. The authorities then decided, in gratitude, to repeat the procession the following year and then every seven years. The septennial festivals were born. More than a tradition, these Festivals are, from edition to edition, a great moment for our city, a privileged time during which an identity is restored by federating all the vital forces but also all the citizens around not only their history - prestigious - but also around a social project. Celebrating what Huy is, sharing a tradition, celebrating the Virgin, and a common moment. The procession will be an evocation that is both civil and religious. It will connect the two banks. A moment of reflection and celebration in the magnificent and historic setting of the Collegiate Church. 11 AM - 7 PM > Village of Gastronomic Brotherhoods + entertainment "La fée doudou", Place Verte. Le Village of the Brotherhoods is organized by the Ville de Huy in partnership with the non-profit organization "Association régionale des Confréries gastronomiques de Hesbaye-Meuse-Condroz". Every year, this unmissable appointment brings together young and old for many minutes of wonder. The pyrotechnician Party-Fice, faithful to the tradition for several years, will present a breathtaking show with more than 12,200 projectiles that will set the sky of Huy on fire in a ballet of colors and light. For this exceptional Septennial edition, The company Delta Production will offer you, in parallel with the fireworks, a lighting of the Collegiate Church and the Hospice d'Oultremont.
