Stampede

Stampede is a thought-provoking, interactive documentary-style performance about safety in our society. Drawing on examples of human stampedes, it examines how economic drivers, mass hysteria and inequality are undermining the fundamental right to safety. The performance poses tough questions about responsibility, power and justice, and holds up a mirror to us: how did we get caught up in this rat race, and how do we break free? How technology brings the performance to life The technology used in the performance is based on the use of radio frequencies to establish responsive, interactive connections between the audience, the performers, the soundscape and the projections, via the interactivity of programmed restaurant pagers. The technology used includes: Raspberry Pi, HackRF, antennas, OSC, Wi-Fi, restaurant pagers, Python, Linux, Ableton Live, Resolume Arena and VDO Ninja.
